Tips Single Home Buyers Can’t Ignore
Today’s real estate market presents an excellent opportunity for all types of homebuyers including those who are choosing to go it alone. Be it single professionals or single-parent families, about 30 percent of recent homebuyers were either single women or men according to the National Association of Realtors. With a variety of home styles, affordable home prices and tax credits from the government, single buyers have strong incentives to make their move into the housing market.
“Owning a home is a major responsibility even when two or more people are involved,” says Joe King, president and COO of Coldwell Banker West Shell. “Luckily, single buyers don’t need to compromise with anyone else when it comes to selecting the home of their dreams.”
Consider these tips before flying solo on a home purchase:
• Go with what you can afford. Be realistic about your budget requirements today and in the future. Get a second opinion by sitting down with a relative or friend who can offer sound advice as an outsider.
• Find community. Need someone to pick up the newspaper while you’re away or lend a helping hand in the backyard once in a while? Consider finding a home near friends or family who can lend a hand around the house when you need it.
• A home to grow in. Many singles find a home built for one, can quickly become a home for two. Consider your future with your purchase and work with Team Annett to find a property that offers some flexibility for your needs today and tomorrow.
